The Guinean government and the African Development Bank (AfDB) have set up an ambitious program to transform the agricultural sector, based on the Agri-Food Transformation Zones (AFTZ) approach, in line with the “Feed Africa” strategy. The program aims to:

  • Improve agricultural productivity.
  • Reduce post-harvest losses.
  • Promote agricultural value chains.
  • Strengthen food and nutritional security and
  • Develop competitive processed products.

The first two ZSTAs will be built in Boké and Kankan regions. In coherence with the country’s strategic priorities, the program will contribute to processing of agricultural crops, improving yields in promising sectors, and reducing imports of agri-food products, thereby making Guinean agriculture more efficient and resilient.

Overall goal of Boké & Kankan Agricultural Development Zones (ZSTA)

  • Increasing food and nutritional security and stimulating production, processing, and marketing of agricultural products in the concerned areas.
  • Calling upon the private sector to ensure a leading role in promoting ZSTAs, with a particular focus on gender issue as beneficiaries and key stakeholders in the program’s success.

Scope of services:

  • Technical, financial, economic, legal, and organizational feasibility studies;
  • Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) and
  • Tender documents for the establishment of the ZSTAs in Boké and Kankan regions.

We express our deep gratitude to ADAZZ, PDZSTA-BK, and all stakeholders who contributed to the success of this mission, both at the regional level (Boké & Kankan) as well as at the national level (Conakry).
